The main theme of the project is the media, especially Internet media. During the project by using the blog we want to support intercultural dialogue, toleranceand understanding for the differences arising from differences in customs, traditions and culture of different nations. Through the project we want to expand on„interculturality” of contemporary Europe.
Our project is financially supported by the Youth in Action Program.
Interculturality? What da heck is it? O_o
When we meet a person from other country for the first time, the first thing we think about is „what is different between us?” Unfortunately we forget to think about ourcommons, so we are going to show you that there’re quite a lot of them. Thosecommon features are called „interculturality”. But yeah … what does it mean?
We had hell of a brainstorm and the idea is that interculturality is a processof creating one, big, international culture. That process is slow, and it’s based on respect for each other, it gives us opportunity to learn something new by comparing our habits, lifestyle, our likes and dislikes and many, many more. In every process, there are things we expect to happen. The same is with theinterculturality. We can improve our lingual skills, make new friendships, break stereotypes that aren’t true and create new point of view at many things.
Here, in Ochotnica, we got an opportunity to be a part of an intercultural community. And yeah, first thing we talked about our differences… But quickly we found out there’s a lot in common that we’ve got. Maybe uuummm… let’s list few examples. First thing we’ve noticed is that we all have pretty the same clothing style (maybe Italians wear lighter clothes because they don’t know what winter is at all. Other thing is that we’ve got quite similar daily timetable. All of us prefer to go vacationing at seaside, and we like to go abroad more than staying in our own countries. We even found out that the places we like to go to are the same, like Spain or Croatia. Czechs and Italians are not that much religious. There’re a lot of other examples like that but we don’t want to let you get bored reading and reading about the same thing all day long.
One day we found out that we like the same stupid YouTube videos so we started to watch them all together and have a lot of fun in our internationalbunch. But it’s not the only thing we do together. At night we watch movies on a big screen; we listen to the music and dance. While chatting we are teaching each other our national languages (or maybe just single words…). On New Year’s Eve we organized a party and had a lot of fuuuuun. What Italians do together is suffering, haha! (: They’ve got sore throat and stuff.
In this first post we focused on our free time, because we think in the free time we can get to know each other better than during activities, or at least we feel more free to behave in a spontaneous way.
We are also living in XXI century and we’ve got internet, and we think this fact helped us a lot to improve our interculturality.
23 people met in the same place and each of us represents very different cultural, manners, traditions, dance and music. It was for us very difficult challenge. When we started we didn’t know anything about us but with time differences start to disappear.
Let’s start with a group of Czech: 3 really crazy guys under the sign of „Rock & roll”, Tereza – nice, smiling, crazy girl and Pavla – representative fashion and beauty.
I think that now we should writing something about Polish group because differences between these two countries are the smallest in comparison with others. 5 people who love fun and „Polish jokes”. The rest of their stupid ideas should stay a secret
3 group – Lithuanian. Patrikas who is vegetarian and prefer healthy food, Airinas – our dancer, Julius and him Russian accent, Edvinas – nice but sometimes sarcastic and Arnoldas simply.
The last group is Italian. Daniel & Stefania – quiet but very romantic couple (Italians as befits), Marco & Don Corleone (oh sorry Stefano) – our global dj’s and Diletta – very friendly girl.
How you can see differencesare but spent 10 days together was amazing and very funny experience. Every group prepared an evening about theircountry’s tradition. These evening allowed us to explorestereotypes of different nationalities, music (from rock to rap), culture, tradition and dance. Oh yes, dance Dance was very different too: elements of salsa, rock and freedom of course.
Before exchange we didn’t know what to expect but„there are no barriers now between us”.
Our experiences, thoughts left for the video, but before you see it you have to remember our behavior is not natural. On live we are better.
During the exchange our band prepared for us song. Words of this song are really true. That was very spontaneous.

Same questions, different answers
FOODS & DRINKS: all the world thinks that we always eat pasta. Well, that’s true! Almost everyday Italian families eat pasta but we have also hundreds of traditional recipts based on meat, fish, vegetables, pasta, ravioli, lasagne, gnocchi etc… the famous Mediterranenan diet.
As you move south to the north, you will have the opportunity to taste a lot of different kind of flavours, thanks to the great variety of products in each region.
SPORTS: first of all, and most important one, soccer. Then volleyball, F1, bikes and MotoGP.
NATIONAL HUMOR: usually demetial and sarcastic. It is not always so easy to understand and enjoy if you don’t know Italian cultureand history.
AN ITALIAN STEREOTYPE THAT IS TRUE AND ONE THAT IS NOT.
Italians always try to find an easy solution, the “no problem!” formula. (true)
Italians are all mafious. That’s not true, even if some of us really are.
DANCE AND MUSIC: we like to dance in many different occasions: on parties, on the beach, in the disco, wherever there is some music playing.
What about music…apart from Opera, Italy has a great heritage of traditional songs that vary a lot depending on the region. It is couriuos that the most famous Italian singers or musicians abroad are not the same we like to listen to in Italy.
PARTY: we like to meet each others for the happy hour, and then go on till late night. During the summer, when we are on holiday, we use to organize big beach parties.
A PLACE WHERE TO MEET FOR AN EXCHANGE IN THE FUTURE: almost everywhere, from the snowy mountains of the north to the wonderful and sunny riviera of the south, or maybe in one of the little island near the coastline.
FUTURE: we always knew that Czech Republic and Polland have a lot of wonderful places to visit, but the beauty of Lithuania was unespected. We would like to plan a trip around East Europe to visit the countries that our new friends have presented to us in such an interesting way.

FOOD & DRINKS: usually we eat dishes from potatoes and meat. We have recepits with an old history but we like to taste foreign traditionalfoods, and if we like them we usually add them to ournational cuisine. Especially we like sweets and we are good at making it like Sakotis, and simtalapis.
SPORTS: basketball, definitely. Iit is like religion for us, the most popular sport in the country.
NATIONAL HUMOR: we like to make jokes and laugh a lot. It makes life more joyful.
A LITHUANIAN STEREOTYPE THAT IS TRUE AND ONE THAT IS NOT.

PARTY: Usually we gather togetherand going into cvity to party all night long having fun meeting each others- IN NIGHT F CLUBS ARE VERY POPULAR IN LITHUNIA and we have plenty of it. In the future we definitely will meet in our new friends countries as they presented them in a very spectacular way and make like a dream where we would like to visit. They gave us a small taste of it and now we want more. Good teaser (smile).
A PLACE WHERE TO MEET FOR AN EXCHANGE IN THE FUTURE: The most beautiful castle which is located in city §Trakai° and the castle is in the middle of the huge lake surrounded by water. And of course our beaches which are covered with soft sand and beautiful dunes.

Poland, Poland, Poland. Country of beautiful sights and woman (but personally I don’t agree with that [Coval]). We have weird politicians, poor people and loads of delicious meals. We are supposed to write about Polish food, drinks, parties, sights, games, traditions and stuff like that, but just pointing them out just like that will be boring so we’re try to describe them in words.
Yeah, we didn’t mention sports, we’re good at just two, maybe three… Our football sucks, our racing sucks, our hockey sucks, our basketball sucks, athletics blows. But we’re good at swimming, ski jumping, volleyball.
Czechs call our country PO(tato)LAND. Yeah we eat a lot of potatos…
But really, the beginning may sound like Poland is a shithole;), but there’re a lot of positives, believe us. Polish people are very hospitable. That’s what we are famous for. And Polish food, mmmmmmm! Bigos, kwaśnica, pierogi with potatos and oscypek.
MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM, I got hungry! (: We don’t eat without drinking anything of course. We have compotes, beer that’s famous all around the world).
Next point should be sports, but as we said, we sucks at everything, lol, so We gonna skip to most popular monuments and places. First is Malbork, a castle built by Teutonic Knights in something like XIII century. Other popular place for tourists is Cracow. Old Polish capital city, where the first Polish university, the Jagiellonian University, was built. Of course our capital, Warsaw, is very popular, and so is Wroclaw, Gdańsk, Poznań.
Oh, and we’ve got a lot of people who are famous worldwide. Let’s start with pope Jan Paweł II – he doesn’t need any introduction. Maybe Kopernik whose heliocentric theory let Europe get out of black corner caused by stupid.

The same subject different proposition
We decided to write about food in different countries, because everyone wants to try other country`s food while traveling. This blog describes traditional – special foods and also everyday foods, eating habits.
In this blog you can see that there is a lot of similarities between Lithuanian and Polish cuisine, but Italians have very different eating habits. There is also Czechs which has some unique dishes.
Parts about different countries food are made by citizens of that particular country, so the blog is very authentic and you can be sure that you will find these dishes in those countries.
Some of recipes. Make it and enjoy your meal!!

sweet paprika powder
2 tablespoons butter
1 tablespoon flour
Cook chicken with włoszczyzna, add a peeled onion, salt, pepper, other spice.
Remove the cooked chicken cool, the meat cut into pieces and toss it into the broth. Thecatch pot onions. Reheated broth with butter and flour roux to make, add to the soup, season with fresh pepper, at the very end add marjoram. Serve with fresh rolls.
2 cups flour
30 dag sauerkraut
5 grams of dried mushrooms
2 tablespoons of oil
Prepare stuffing: Rinse mushrooms, soaked overnight, cooked in the same water in whichthe soaked, drain and chop. Peel onions, cut into small cubes and fry in oil. Chop cabbage, add onions, mushrooms with a brew and simmer about 45 minutes. Drainexcess broth, cool, season to taste with salt and pepper, add egg and mix. Prepare thedough: flour, eggs, salt and 3 cups of water to knead a soft dough. Roll out and put some flour. Trim glass discs. For each put a teaspoon of the filling. Strongly agglutinate edgesdumplings. Throw lots of salted boiling water, cook for 3-5 min. after rising to the surface. Serve topped with hot oil with browned onions.

0.5 kg of fresh baco
0.5 kg pork neck or shoulder
0.5 kg of sausage Głogów (Silesian)
20 ounces of sausage Juniper
30 ounces button mushrooms or dried mushrooms
4 pieces of dried plums (pitted)
allspice, bay leaves, pepper, salt
1 jar of tomato paste
Cabbage, cover with water, add the allspice, bay leaves. Meat fry in fat, cut into cubes, add to cabbage. Sausage, diced onion and fry together with the fat, add to cabbage. Add the chopped mushrooms or dried mushrooms, soaked and cooked before the water in which the soaked, and plums. Boil the stew to simmer, at the end of cooking add the tomato paste, mix well and season to taste with salt and pepper.
Scrambled eggs with cheese, tomatoes, ham and onion.
How to do this:
The amount of ingredients as desired. Break an egg and mix thoroughly in a separatebowl, ham and cheese cut into pieces (cubes), tomato peel and cut into medium pieces, peel onions and cut into slices. Melt butter in a frying pan until golden brown get, throwonions. After 5 minutes put the ham and fry. Then, throw eggs, tomatoes and cheese into the pan. Stir until a slightly angled consistency. Serve on a plate.
Ingredients for pork:
4 pieces of raw pork
spices (pepper, salt, granulated garlic)
7-8 small young potatoes
parsley (for garnish)
Raw pork chops with pestle pitched on both sides several times to increase its volume. Then pour in separate plates:
bread crumbs, flour and eggs pitched, which mix together with seasonings. First rolled individually cutlet in the egg, then flour again, egg, bread crumbs, egg andbread crumbs again. And so, proceed with the rest of the chops. Fry on both sides of the first on the larger fire, and later on the small fry, and every now and then change the frying.
Peel potatoes, wash and cook. After cooking, if you prefer, you can mash the potatoesm or leave it in its entirety, and to decorate sprinkle with fresh parsley. For this, you can specify the sauerkraut, it will fit perfectly.

Fry in hot oil sliced onion. Add chopped peppers into strips, tomatoes and mushrooms. When the mushrooms will release some juice, and pepper is tender, lined with vegetableson the plaque, arrange the sausages on top. Put on fire about 10 minutes, then sprinkle with grated cheese and again put on fire (about 5 minutes), until cheese is melted.

In Czech republic is typical to eat meals prepared from dumplings with meat and sauceIts typical for Czechs to eat dumplings with meat and sauce. We have 3 the most typical meats which are called “Knedlo – vepřo – zelo” , “Svíčková” and “Guláš“.
Svíčková, or svíčková na smetaně = Marinated Beef Sirloin
is a typical and one of the most popular Czech meals. It is made of vegetables (carrots, parsley root, celeriac and onion), spiced with black pepper, allspice, bay leaf and thyme and boiled with double cream. It is generally served with houskové knedlíky (bread dumplings).
Svíčková na smetaně is served with a cream (smetana) topping and usually with cranberry sauce in many restaurants around the Czech Republic.
Every Czech will tell you that his or her mother or grandmother makes this best. An essential hearty wintertime dish, svíčková na smetaně is everywhere to be found in Prague this time of year, when people come in out of the cold and want something substantial and savory to warm them up.
Goulash – guláš
is a soup or stew of meat, noodles and vegetables (especially potato) 😀 😀 , seasoned with paprika and other spices. It is one of Czech’s national dishes.
It is prepared with beef and served with bread dumplings (hovězí guláš s knedlíkem) or with bread. In some regions it is garnished with slices of fresh onion. It is typically accompanied by beer. Beer can be also added to the stew in the process of cooking. In Czech slang, the word guláš means „mishmash”, typically used as mít v tom guláš: to be disoriented or to lack understanding of something.

It’s the biggest meal of the day. Usually the first dish is a soup and after that can follow:

Usually we have cold dinner (similar to breakfast) – bread with cheese, ham or with everything we can find in our fridge. If we can’t find anything in our fridge, we go to the restaurant or to fastfoods like McDonald’s, KFC or Burger King.
Czech typical spirit drink – SLIVOVICE
In the Czech Republic slivovice (as well as its variations from other fruits) is primarily produced in the southern and eastern provinces of Moravia and in Vysocina, where the country prevails its rural character.
Although there still exists tradition of (illegal ? ) home distilleries, the majority of production moved to certified local community-owned distilleries to prevent errors during the distillation process (leading to production of toxic Methanol). It also allows state authorities to collect their respective taxes based on the proof of the product, however there are tax-reliefs for private and non-commercial production of the drink. The usual proof of private-produced slivovice is over 50% of alcohol in final product, commercially available mass-produced drinks are mostly lower proof.
Slivovice is usually consumed deeply chilled from a small shot glass known locally as „panák” (literally: a dummy), „kalíšek” (colloquial for a small cup) or „štamprle” (from German „das Stamperl”, little glass), but is almost never served on the rocks. The cooling helps to overcome the effects of high proof during the drinking, however to enjoy the aroma and taste of original fruit is better to drink slivovice at a room temperature.
Slivovice, due its somewhat symbolic status of Czech „national” drink, is strongly presented in local traditions, culture and popculture like in proverbs, folk songs, TV shows etc.

Traditional (ocasional) foods Cepelinai.
Cepelinai (singular – cepelinas) or Didžkukuliai are a Lithuanian national dish. They are a type of dumpling made from grated potatoes and usually stuffed with minced meat, although sometimes dry cottage cheese (curd) or mushrooms are used instead.
So named because their shape resembles that of a Zeppelin airship, cepelinai are typically around 10–20 cm long, although the size depends on where they are made: in the western counties of Lithuania cepelinai are made bigger than in the east.
It is potatoes dish. Actually it is potatoes sausages, the process of making it is very similar as making meat sausages.
Kugelis (also bulviu plokštainis, the lexically correct non-foreign name, literally „flat potato dish” or banda – a dialecticism frequent especially in Dzukija region) is a baked potato pudding that is a Lithuanian national dish. The main ingredients are potatoes, bacon, milk, onions, and eggs. It may be spiced with salt, black pepper, bay leaves, and/or marjoram. It is usually eaten with apple sauce, lingonberry preserve, sour cream, or crumbled fried fat—from white bacon (spirgai) or pork.

Every day foods
1. Baked eggs. Boiled eggs is also popular.
2. Sandwiches with cheese, meat.

These are the most popular soups in Lithuania.

Conclusion. Lithuanian cuisine have many similarities with polish cuisine. Lithuanians usually eats meat every day, potatoes is also everyday food in Lithuania. Fruits is more popular in summer time, salads also. In summer Lithuanians likes to cook outside, like barbecue where we cook meat and vegetables on fire. Usually it served with rise or potatoes, or mashed potatoes. In winter meat is more popular and usually it served with potatoes.

We are young and we care about entertainment, in this blog you can get some knowledge about the entertainment subtleties in Italy, Poland, Lithuania and Czech.
We have explored all types of parties and celebrations, so you will know what music you should expect in different places, what are the popular drinks and snacks.
Clubs in Czech:
You go there when you want to make new friends (or partners). You drink coctails here, shots, champaigne or good wine. Music is very loud so you can´t hear much, but you can dance here all the time. The type of music is RnB, Electro or Pop music.

From 28th Dec 2011r to 5th 2012 in Ochotnica Górna met 23 people whoaltogether realized the international youth exchange, financed byEU Programme Youth in Action: Międzynarodowe Media Młodzieżowe. When we started our journey, we did not know anything about each other. We’ve seen each other on the monitor of computer and exchange some information. Each of us represented a variety of cultures, customs, traditions, music and even dance. This was a very difficult task to adapt to all, without losing ownpersonality. But after “breaking ice”, the differences between us began to blur. However, the individuality of each of the participants stayed on. Evenings which were prepared by each national group allowed us to explore stereotypes of different nationalities and broke it. Thanks discussions we could open our minds and eyes to the world. Each story was unique, valuable – more valuable than any history lesson. Although, our meetings are not only to share a common history, tradition or points of view but also was great fun and good time.
Dance classes, games and jokes … At the end of interculturality is not only science and phenomena but also WE – WE ARE PART of INTERCULTURALITY – the youth and our points of views, our stories our behavior, habits, words we say, way we look.
We can’t forget about people who prepared this exchange, thanks them the time in Ochotnica was full of different exercise and tasks which help us the understandinterculturality. Thanks to them we could also met such wonderful people.
Before the exchange we did not know what to expect, but there are no barriersthat cannot be beat. Projects like this a great way to develop young people, the participation in such a project gave us an opportunity to see new perspectives. It gave us a very valuable lesson of life that nobody can take away from us. What is more we met friends who will be in our hearts for years :).
